Baja, a Winter with palms
While in Baja in the Winter of 2022, I lived in a sweet cabaña made out of palms. My driveway was strewn with them. They were everywhere in the landscape. Drawn to the stunning geometry of the fronds, I embarked on a cyanotype project made exclusively with this local palm, called ‘Washingtonia’ or ‘fan’ palm.
The project culminated in an exhibit at the Oystera, in Todos Santos, in April 2022, titled ‘Blueprints from Baja’.
The pieces that are still available are now exclusively for sale at Pez Gordo Gallery and right here, in my online shop!
Blueprints from Baja: 'The First Ones'
These cyanotypes are the ones that kicked off my Baja Palm series. They are the smallest format available in the Baja collection, making them a great fit for any space. On their own, they stand out. Together, they tell a story.
Size: 10 x 14 inches • 24 x 34 cm
Blueprints from Baja: 'Robusta'
When in Baja, the fan palm reminds you of paradise everywhere you go. In these cyanotypes they take on both abstract and geometric guises. Brighten up your space with a slice of Baja blue. Make them stand out on their own, or make an impression by pairing multiple.
Size: 14 x 20 inches • 35 x 50 cm
Blueprints from Baja: 'The 29'
‘The 29’ are a series of 29 unique cyanotypes, made with the Baja fan palm. 21 of them were presented together in an impressive installation piece during my show ‘Blueprints from Baja’ at the Oystera in Todos Santos.
Size: 20 x 28 inches • 51 x 71 cm
Blueprints from Baja: 'Easy' & ‘Breezy’
Palms palms palms. The ‘Breezy’ series is a long format. These cyanotypes are playful and exuberant. The ‘Easy’ series is tall. These ones stand out in tight spaces.
Size: 5 x 2 feet (60 x 24 inches) • 152.5 x 61 cm
Blueprints from Baja: 'XL'
These are the cyanotypes I wanted to make from the beginning, capturing the fan palm in its full glory. These 4x6 foot blueprints from Baja are sure to make a bold statement in your space.
Impressive as they are on their own, they can be hung in pairs in slightly bigger spaces. Some collectors choose to combine a piece from the ‘XL’ series with a smaller piece elsewhere in their space, for balance.
Size: 4 x 5.5 feet (48 x 66 inches) • 122 x 168 cm
