Blueprints from Baja: 'Shadows'

$3,000.00

When I first laid eyes on the Baja fan palm I knew I wanted to capture it in its full glory. These ‘XL’ cyanotypes, made on watercolor paper, range from stately to playful, from pronounced to elusive. These blueprints from Baja are sure to make a bold statement in your space.

Impressive as they are on their own, they can be hung in pairs in slightly bigger spaces. Some collectors choose to combine a piece from the ‘XL’ series with a smaller piece elsewhere in their space, for balance.

I made 10 ‘XL’ fan palm cyanotypes in Baja in April-May of 2022. I can’t wait to make more and am gearing up for some commissions in Fall-Winter 2022-23. Get in touch if you are interested in a commission piece!

Washingtonia robusta, commonly know as the Mexican fan palm, is a palm tree native to the Baja California peninsula. You’ll see these palms waving in the coastal breeze and you’ll see them integrated in ‘palapa’ roofs and in fences.

While in Baja in the Winter of 2022, I got pretty intimate with the fan palm. I lived in a cabaña made out of fan palms. I was immediately drawn to the stunning geometry of the palms that were growing on my driveway. I decided to work with the fan palm exclusively during my time there. The results are now yours to enjoy!
