Mallorca – My blissful lockdown in paradise
March 2020. I was on the beautiful isle of Mallorca for two weeks to make a video about my art making process. Then the pandemic hit, my flights got cancelled, and I was forced to ‘shelter in place’.
That is how I got ‘stuck’ in paradise. A tiny cottage, one suitcase filled with art supplies, and endless fields of wildflowers. Two weeks turned into four months. A blissful time on a magical island.

Tierra
The ‘Tierra’ cyanotype series was created towards the end of my time in Mallorca, post-lockdown 2020. It evolved out of the ‘Island’ series, and out of experiments with action painting, using the Mallorca soil, and water from the Balearic Sea.
See me at work in Mallorca
Early 2020 I traveled to the island of Mallorca to collaborate with videographer Laura Caldés for the making of a short video about my work.
Wander off with me for a moment to revel in the beauty of Mallorca while learning about my art making process.
Nube
Made in a flash with beach sediment, sand and shells, right before sunset, on one of my favorite beaches in Mallorca.
Island
Made in the first week of lockdown, these small cyanotypes look like islands. Find yours!
Ray
Made with water and a sponge and a desire to play, these 3 cyanotypes came out like unknown creatures from the deep Balearic seas.
